Performing Pueblito Viejo Dance – Theatre piece from Boyacá, Cundinamarca and Tolima counties in the Andean region of Colombia. “Pueblito Viejo”,  a recreation of the most beautiful Colombian traditions carried out to celebrate the immaculate conception of Mary, the party awaiting the child God, better known among Colombians as the night of the Candles, a night so special that unites all Colombians in the same celebration, children, youth, adults and the elderly share a prayer with respect and devotion and end the night in a festive celebration. “We pray, asking for those who one day departed with the illusion of bringing that light, carrying the memories of their people in their hearts, for peace, for love, for reconciliation, care for the Common Home, for those who suffer , for those who have departed, for all the personal, social and ecclesial circumstances of each person. With the choreography the lanterns we represent the religious and spiritual character around the light and with the Palonegro the festive and joyful character that always characterise the Colombian people”. 

Somos Chibchas Art

Somos Chibchas Arts is a dance group based in London that arises from the desire of migrant women and men – mothers, fathers, workers and students – to show and preserve the beautiful culture that we leave behind when we cross the ocean. Our collective was born in 2010 with the aim of investigating, showing, preserving and sharing the way in which Colombian culture and folklore are influenced by art, the wisdom of our indigenous ancestors and of the heritage of the African diaspora. Our mission is to work on the strengthening and visibility of the Colombian and Latin American community in the United Kingdom through our ancestral artistic traditions.

Performing “de mar y rioIn this ancestral journey you will enter one of the folk festivals of Colombia, and you will be able to appreciate some emblematic expressions of the memory and identity of the Colombian Caribbean and the Rio Grande Magdalena.

Talentos School of Dance

Talentos School of Dance is an organisation based in London which offers Latin American performing arts and cultural activities to all. Constituted by a group of dancers, actors, musicians and artists, all united by a shared passion for promoting Latin American culture and traditions in London and throughout the United Kingdom. Talentos focus on Colombian folklore and traditional dance while also expanding to contemporary dance and popular music as well as cultural traditions from all Latin American countries. They provide a safe environment where adults, teens, and children can celebrate and share the roots of their own regions as well as explore the rich diversities of the whole continent.

Talentos School of Dance will be performing Volvio Juanita, dance-theatre piece: “Juanita is a Colombian immigrant working as a cleaner in London. Frustrated with her situation, she returns to Colombia to achieve her last grandma wish. Juanita embarks on a journey to look for her lost seven Fairies spread throughout the regions of Colombia to collect the special ingredients to save the Pacha Mama (mother earth)”.

Matices Latinos 

Matices Latinos acoustic Quinet is a contemporary Latin outfit led by Colombian singer and Cimarron Festival Director Luz Elena Caicedo and musically directed by Venezuelan Master percussionist Wilmer Sifontes. Their border hopping style, and percussive approach to the Latin American song book, is an authentic experience full  of the colourful, passionate and joyful vibrancy of its many musical genres. For Imagine Colombia Arts Peace Festival, Luz Elena will be singing some of her original compositions, as well as some emblematic songs celebrating peace, hope and the dawn of a new era! Some of their performances include The Royal Albert Hall Cafe Consort, The National Theatre, St. Ethelbuglias, The Purcell Room, The Green Note in Camden, Crazy Coqs and private functions at City Hall.
